Adding Image Captcha Module to Broadstreet Blog

I woke up this morning to see 20 comments on two different blog posts, most of them posting a link to see Lindsay Lohan nude. I installed the Drupal Captcha module and configured it to hopefully prevent any more spam. A couple notes about getting this right. For me, the default font was unacceptably hard to read. I had to install additional True-type fonts by creating a fonts folder under the modules/captcha/image_captcha folder and copying in a number of fonts. I used the "liberation fonts" that I had downloaded previously.

Biscuits and Blues

IMG_7449-small.JPG We had the privilege of seeing Michael Burks playing at Biscuits and Blues Tuesday night. Biscuits and Blues is THE place to go for blues in San Francisco.

Wreckless and Greedy on Wall Street

I've been unhappy with John McCain's latest populist rhetoric, calling out the 'recklessness of Wall Street' and the'corruption and unbridled greed'. It bothered me because he was very vague and unspecific in his accusations. 'Name names!' I hollered at my car radio. In my heart of hearts I knew there was some truth to what he was saying but I wanted more details.

Brad Wilson at Lou's Blues San Francisco

brad-wilson.jpg Val & I had the pleasure of seeing blues player Brad Wilson at Lou's Blues on Pier 49 in San Francisco, and it was most excellent. Here's a link to Brad's Web Site: http://www.bradwilsonlive.com.

Pink's Hot Dogs and Scarcity

IMG_7233-smaller.JPG I visited Pink's Hot Dogs in Hollywood Friday. Pink's is world famous for being the "hot dog stand to the stars." There is always a line at Pink's. (That's me in the photo, looking at the camera.) I waited in line for an hour to get a Stretch 10" Chili Cheese Dog, onion rings, and a cream soda. Despiting it being a rather average meal, I'm glad I did it. Why? Because I ate at Pink's.

On Being a Rock Star

I breakfast today with Kathy Harris, Vice-president and Distinguised Analyst for the Gartner Group. Kathy had more than 20 years experience in banking before joining Gartner 10 years ago.

More Drupal Modules for this Blog

I finally set my mind to several things I'd like to blog about, and then I realize I've got this "build-it-yourself" blogging tool called Drupal. I know that I want to insert images into my blog, and I want it to be as simple as WordPress or Blogger. My wife's blog, at http://nothingbetterthanablankpage.blogspot.com, always has pictures in it. Valerie is not tech-savvy but has learned to use pictures to maximum effect.

Speaking at the Columbia Chamber of Commerce ITC

I had the opportunity to speak to the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce's Information Technology Council this past Tuesday. I was very appreciative of Kurt Hamm and the rest of the group for giving me the opportunity to speak about Web 2.0 in the Enterprise.

Over the next few weeks I'll be sharing some of the point I made during my presentation.

ProStores and eBay Stores Integration

One of the things that ProStores uses as a selling point is their integration with eBay. I was telling someone recently that I wasn't happy with the integration, and they pressed me for details and I couldn't remember. So I did a little research and refreshed my memory... On the issue of eBay Stores integration, here are some facts to consider: - You can import products from eBay, but the data will need to be "enhanced" once it's in ProStores. There are fields in ProStores that don't exist in eBay (such as Short Description).
